College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) reasserted its title as ‘Home of the Champions’ as they racked up medals in the ASEAN Festival of Talents at the University Gymnasium on Feb. 13, besting nine other departments to claim the championship crown.

In the showcase of talents, CAS secured four medals including a gold in Traditional Dance, and three silvers in the Vocal Solo, National Costume, and Student Ambassador categories.

CAS’ polished fusion of four Indonesian dances ‘Tari Indang’, ‘Tari Piring’, ‘Rambo Yambe Rambo’, and ‘Bajidor Kahot’ earned their only gold medal, up the front of the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC) Thai concept, and College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) Malaysian dances.

CAS earned second place in the National Costume category as they channeled Indonesian vibes in their dance attire, close to winning against CCJC’s golden ensemble.

Second to College of Engineering’s (CEng) Marc Christian B. Sadili who sang a rendition of Whitney Houston’s Listen, CAS’ Gady Delumen also handed the college a silver medal in the Vocal Solo with his performance of the Indonesian song, Lathi.

Moreover, CAS’ Student Ambassador Randell Roperez, who delivered a speech about a unity-centered vision for ASEAN countries, also earned a silver medal finish behind CCJC’s Lycamae Penarejo.

Overall, CCJC was hailed 2nd place with 2 golds and one silver, and CBA earned 3rd place with three bronze medals.

Aside from these departments, the College of Education also obtained a bronze medal in the Vocal Solo category from Joseph Husana’s ‘Bagani’ performance.
