Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) officially declared the newly elected University Collegiate Student Council (UCSC) and Department Student Council (DSC) officers for the academic year 2022-2023 at St. Bonaventure Student Center, on Sept. 29.
The new set of UCSC and DSC officers took their oath facilitated by the University Student Comelec (USC) with the presence of OSAS Acting Director Joana Fe B. Panganiban, RGC.
For the UCSC positions, Genesis C. Zerrudo, from the College of Maritime Education (CME) secured the presidential post garnering 1,385 votes; Mickaella Rane A. Torres from the College of Education (CED) was proclaimed as the Vice President with 1,371 votes; Felomena M. Quizana from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) grabbed the Secretary position with 1,375 votes; Lyka Lizette Gabia from the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) seated as the Treasurer gaining 1,370 votes; and Jan Angelo Tamondong from the College of Engineering (CEng) seized the Auditor position obtaining 1,387 votes.
Moreover, the new set of UCSC Councilors of their respective departments are Nicole I. Rodil, 3rd year AB Political Science student from CAS; Ma. Kaye Sandra L. Galeon, 4th year BS Management Accounting student from CBA; Borris F. Garcia, 2nd year BS Criminology student from CCJC; Mszeey Montalbo, 4th year BS Entertainment and Multimedia Computing from CCMS; Jude Calvin Cordero, 2nd year Bachelor of Physical Education and Sports from CED; Dan Joshua A. Bautista, 3rd year BS Civil Engineering from CEng; Jemson M. Paralleon, 2nd year BS Marine Transportation from CME; and Sophia Nicole A. Abaca, 2nd year Medical Technology student from CNAHS.
Meanwhile, the newly-inducted DSC chairpersons include Chloe Valdeavilla, CAFA; Audrey A. Tajantajan, CAS; Loremae A. Ella, CBA; Ainjelou De Gala, CCJC; Jhan Derille C. Unlayao, CCMS; Cayl Lavarro, CED; Vino R. Sotomayor, CEng; Ezekiel L. Orcina, CHITM; John Neil Miles Rejano, CME; and Ma. Girlie Tambiloc, CNAHS.
“It was a dream come true. I’m ready to serve and inspire my fellow Envergans. We hold more power than we realize and by using that together, we can make a better and brighter future for all of us. It’s not just about what we have or our accomplishments, it’s also about who we lift, who we make better, and how we give back,” said Zerrudo in an interview.
During the proclamation, USC Chairman Dennis Albert N. Gonzales, Ph.D., and VP for Academics and Research Benilda N. Villenas, Ph.D., commended and congratulated the new batch of student leaders.
It was the first time after two years that the university held another USC election and the first time an election featured a sole accredited political party, the CAUSE Party.
