The College of Criminal Justice and Criminology’s Juris Peritus Criminis (JPC), in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), hosted a virtual human rights discussion led by Police Major Edgar Sumadsad, Chief of the Regional Police Human Rights Officer, on Feb. 26, 2024, via Zoom.

This collaboration highlighted the importance of integrating human rights education into the academic curriculum, recognizing it as an essential component in student development.

Also, by partnering with esteemed professionals like PMAJ Sumadsad, JPC and OSAS aimed to empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate social and legal landscapes.

The webinar delved into various aspects of human rights, including the universal declaration of human rights, constitutional provisions, and pertinent laws governing human rights protection and enforcement.

Moreover, PMAJ Sumadsad’s expertise in the field, coupled with interactive engagement with attendees, promises a dynamic learning environment where students can deepen their understanding of these fundamental concepts.

“This is a good platform po to engage in such discussions, so I am really happy that they have this webinar. We gained knowledge about UDHR and more,” one of the student attendees said.

Therefore, as JPC and OSAS continue to take initiatives on discussions that promote social responsibility and ethical awareness, webinars like this serve as a testament to their commitment to inclusivity and justice within the student community.
