After the Fire Safety Awareness Seminar held last February 22 at EMRC VI, AEC Building, MSEUF finally holds an on-ground university-wide earthquake and fire drill at MSEUF Grounds, on March 9 and March 29.

Two earthquake and fire drills are being conducted twice a month as part of the celebration of Fire Prevention Month.

The sound of the fire alarm rang loudly at all places wherein UCSC (University Student Collegiate Council) members ordered everyone to head to MSEUF Grounds.

Students, faculties, administrators, and employees from all over the place line up and demonstrated the “Duck, Cover, and Hold,” as they walked peacefully toward the grounds.

In the main campus, there are several evacuation areas for every department which are located in the parking lot near the CCJC building, executive office, canteen, CNAHS building, Kalayaan road near the canteen, student lounge, admin building, area between the covered court and gym and Kalayaan road.

On the other hand, students from Basic Education Department arrived at their evacuation area located at the Quadrangle while students from the College of Maritime Education have their evacuation area located at the road between BED and MV Romana.

The medical team appeared also as the members of the Health and Safety Office headed by Sir Arby Lagman. After a few minutes, the drill ended and everyone went back to their usual errands.

A 2nd year AB English Language student, Lawrence Ivan Arroyo, emphasized the importance of earthquake and fire drill to take measures when disasters are happening to ensure the safety of ourselves as well as others.
