Making their mark in the world of hackathons, a team of five students from Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation emerged as one of the Top 30 teams in the AIA Lifehackers: Hackventure, Feb. 17.
The team composed of Computer Science students Gabriel Biler, James Grimaldo,and Rikiya Yamamoto; Multimedia Computing student, Erika Marca; and Accountancy student, Louise Justine Abrigo represented Envergan talent in the competition.
“I’m so proud of my mentees. They can work independently and listen to my suggestions on how to improve their ideas. This is surprising because we are aware that there are many entries in this competition, but we managed to make it to next round,” remarked John Rover Sinag, the faculty member responsible for coaching the team.
AIA Lifehackers:Hackventure is a startup competition that serves as a platform for promoting the company’s insurance offerings and encouraging people to interact with an advisor or purchase a life insurance policy.
The competition has three categories, namely Technology, Marketing Campaign, and Product/Service, which allowed participants to present their ideas in their respective areas.
To advance to the next stage of the competition, the team must enhance their idea and take part in a virtual exhibit that will showcase the product they have devised.
The team is currently making preparations for the upcoming round of the competition and aiming to secure a spot in the Top 20, which will enable them to compete in the final battle on February 25.
