CCJC prevails EU and Me Embracing Diversity comp

College of Criminal Justice and Criminology led the EU and Me Embracing Diversity contest after besting other contestants at the AEC Little Theater on Mar 23.

The University Student Collegiate Council (UCSC) arranged the activity in celebration of Gender and Development, which consists of a Pride walk, Talent Showcase, and Impromptu Speech. Lycamae Penarejo, 2nd year from CCJC, won 1st place at the Speak EUr Mind Impromptu Competition discussing the topic of Restroom for the LGBT Community.

Penarejo stated that it is hard to have an open mind if people do not have an open heart, implying that the LGBT community should be accepted and not just tolerated. Whether they identify as ‘he or she,’ they should have equal rights that other people have.

Meanwhile, Joshua Perez from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) hailed 2nd, and College of Engineering bet John Mark Pateño claimed 3rd in the said competition.

On the other hand, Mari Alexandria M. Herico from the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology also bagged 1st during the talent show, it’s EUr Time to Shine, after performing an interpretative dance of Speechless, Anne Louraine Dela Vega from CCJC hailed 2nd, Cassandra Joy G. Besonia from the College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management got 3rd, and College of Maritime Education (CME) representative, Khyla Puchero, was named 4th.

Moreover, the College of Maritime Education (CME) earned 1st place in the EUng Larawan: Ipakita ang Kaibahan at Kaisahan, the College of Architecture and Fine arts (CAFA) bagged 2nd, and the College of Maritime Education (CME) received the 3rd place prize.

Furthermore, UCSC also held a pride walk in which department student councils partake from the University Gate 1 to the AEC Little Theater.
