Zandra had never imagined entering a national pageant; she thought she would only engage in local pageants in her province. But when she was given the chance to participate in a local Miss Universe Philippines screening in Lucena City, she seized the opportunity, believing there was no harm in giving it a shot.
Zandra Mae Uy Diokno, a 21-year-old communication student from the department of College of Arts and Sciences. She’s also an aspiring actress and already starred in a local indie-film ‘High School Life Stories 2’ directed by Felino Tañada in 2019 and the Fraternity Sweetheart of the 62nd Grand Council of the Honor Society of the Lambda Kappa Phi. Currently she is taking a break from school this year to concentrate on her pageant and modelling career. Her dedication and hard work paid off as she was named one of the top 100 official delegates for Miss Universe Philippines last July 19, 2021 (Monday).
Although being one of the youngest candidates, she has a bunch of experience, having competed in several pageants. In 2018, she was hailed as Miss Silka Quezon 2018 3rd Runner Up. Zandra was also a university queen, Miss Young Enverga 2018, and represented the Basic Education Department – Senior High School in Miss Enverga University 2019. She took pride as well in bearing her hometown Padre Burgos at Binibining Niyogyugan 2018. Her journey continued despite these challenges during pandemic when she was bagged the crown in her first virtual pageant as Binibining Bondoc Peninsula Kalilayan 2020, a prestigious beauty pageant in Quezon Province.
This is Zandra’s first national pageant, and when she was chosen as an aspirant of the Lucky 4 of Miss Universe Lucena City it’s a dream come true. As an optimistic person who always focuses on the bright side of life, she has used the opportunity to be inspired rather than intimidated by the other finalists who were her idols to grind and refine herself.
Miss Universe Philippines will be looking forward to see who really Zandra Mae Uy Diokno is; her fiery appearance belies her kind heart; her charm, creativity, and humility have the ability to enchant any audience.
