To train students, provide support services, and develop responsible leaders who promote a culture of care, the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) conducted a Peer Facilitator’s Training Program that highlights “The Art of Helping Others” on the 2nd floor of the Student Lounge, September 29.
According to the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS), approximately 100 people attended the event and ten students were chosen from various departments by their respective Deans or professors to serve as peer facilitators.
During the program, Mr. Leandro Serrano, OSAS Guidance and Counseling Services counselor discussed the history, roles and responsibilities, and objectives of being a peer facilitator.
The event aimed to train the students as peer counselors and enable them to become a facilitator in forming a healthy and positive lifestyle in extending help to others; providing support services to students ensuring the sustainability of their well-being and; developing responsible leaders who promote a culture of care.
The Peer Facilitator’s The Art of Helping Others Training Program was the first ever on-ground program of OSAS after the 2-year pandemic fiasco.
“It was overwhelming, and we are glad. It was meaningful kasi this is our first on-ground program of OSAS and very enriching and fulfilling. That we became more motivated to facilitate this kind of program.” Ms. April Marquez, OSAS Guidance and Counseling Services counselor added.
According to Marquez, the OSAS will facilitate four more programs by the end of the semester regarding the Peer Facilitator’s Training Program that the selected students could expect.
Meanwhile, OSAS Director Ms. Joana Panganiban expressed her gratitude to the participants and hoped that their commitment would intensify for the welfare and continuous development of the students. “We are really happy and grateful that a lot attended the program.
We can feel the effort and the interest of those who have been appointed and the fact na appointed lang sila without knowing, yet they came… I am looking forward na mas tumaas ang level of intensity ng kanilang commitment and even their participation para sa welfare and continuous na development ng estudyante. Grateful ako na nagenjoy ang lahat.” Ms. Panganiban stated.
