With a clean sweep of championship titles in Men’s A and B, Men’s Doubles, Women’s B, Women’s Doubles, Senior Mixed Doubles, and Boys Doubles, MSEUF Wildcats asserted dominance in the PRISAA Quezon’s Table Tennis Competition, bagging 11 gold medals and securing their tickets to the Regional PRISAA 2024.
Led by exceptional players including Raniel Natividad, Jhoram Bala, Leonard Marasigan, Vincent Revelar, Axle Sacriz, Debbie Galan, Samantha Galan, Aila Tabernilla, Juan Beroso, Vincent Origenes, and Francisco Origenes, MSEUF Wildcats are all set for the regional games after displaying remarkable skill and gameplay throughout the tournament held at MSEUF – Lucena University Gymnasium, Mar. 20-21.
The Wildcats’ path to victory was paved with extensive training, which was effective in overcoming their formidable rival, the MSEUF – Candelaria.
“Yung Candelaria, expected na namin [na sila makakatapat namin]. Ever since talaga, mga players kasi nila, mga former regional [players] tsaka Palarong Pambansa players,” Wildcats’ Coach Allan Tabernilla commented on the intense competition.
Despite the lack of group training, Tabernilla remained confident in the team’s ability to succeed.
“Medyo mahirap, kasi ‘yung oras nila hindi nagtutugma para magkaroon kami ng group training… binibigyan ko sila ng advice na hangga’t kaya nila mag-extra training sa labas, ay samantalahin na nila… kaya confident kami ngayon, siguro mga 80% na-anticipate na namin na mananalo kami,” he said.
Alongside the 11 gold medals, Wildcats’ Kyle Ann Lazaro also clinched a silver medal in the Girls A category.
The team is now preparing to compete in the PRISAA Region IV-A, tentatively scheduled for May 22-26, 2024, bringing them one step closer to the national games in Bicol.
