In the 14th year celebration of its Fiestanglaw tradition, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) officially set light to its Filipino-themed christmas decorations that donned various parts of the campus in a switch-on ceremony, Nov. 7.
Chairman Wilfrido L. Enverga made the switch-on official as he pushed the button that illuminated campus facilities such as the Enverga Boulevard, University Gymnasium, Casa Segunda, University Mansion, Kalayaan road, Administrative Building, University Library, Central Canteen, College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CNAHS) Building, CET Building, Student Lounge, Banyuhay Bridge, executive office, and the College of Criminal Justice and Criminology Building.
According to Mr. Celso Jaballa, Vice President for External Relations and Chairperson of the Christmas Decoration Committee, the University chose to decorate its facilities with Filipino-style decorations such as Capiz lanterns from Pampanga and meteor and netted lights to highlight and preserve the richness of Filipino culture and heritage.
“The Filipino theme enriches the Christmas celebration by highlighting our shared cultural heritage, promoting a deeper sense of identity and unity within the Enverga community like the one we use to utter ‘Maroon and White Forever’,” Jaballa said.
“Let the Switch-On Ceremony ignite our collective spirit of innovation, sustainability, and unity as we illuminate a brighter future for the Enverga Community and beyond,” Jaballa said, hoping that students and visitors were inspired of the rich display of Filipino culture, strengthened bond, and the joyful Christmas spirit.
The switch-on ceremony also featured a performance from the MSEUF Chamberwinds and a fireworks display that mesmerized the audience watching outside the University Gymnasium.
