Basketball team of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation owned the court with five consecutive victories against various colleges in Private School Athletics Association Quezon Chapter Meet 2023 at MSEUF Gymnasium on March 25.
Wildcats took advantage of the twice-to-beat system by securing wins in all their matches and maximizing its full potential against Calayan Educational Foundation Inc., Maryhill College, St. Anne College of Lucena Inc., STI College, and Interglobal College Foundation basketball teams.
According to the Sports Director of MSEUF, Darios Virrey, one of the possible reasons why Calayan Cougars claimed silver might have been due to the exhaustion of players before the championship match.
On March 25, only two matches occurred in the MSEUF Gymnasium; the match between Calayan and Maryhill College and the championship game. Although CEFI Cougars overcame the threat of MC Marian Crusaders with a clutch score of 69-68 in the do-or-die semifinal matchup, MSEUF Wildcats hindered Cougars with a 29-point difference in the showdown.
Wildcats widened the gaps in all quarters of the championship game and showed dominance in every move possible, 22-09, 46-24, 59-45, and 86-57.
Even though mahirap kasi mga bago, nagkaroon naman kami ng maraming experience sa liga to put them all together and claim championship,” Coach Melki Villanueva shared.
Furthermore, MSEUF Wildcats gained the opportunity to compete in the regional-level PRISAA CALABARZON 2023. Though unofficial, the event will likely be in Cavite, Dasmariñas, and Batangas, May 26-29.
