The Quezon Provincial Council, headed by Governor Danilo Suarez, together with Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, commemorated the 143rd birthday anniversary of the late President Manuel Luis Quezon in his monument at Perez Park Lucena City, Aug. 19.

Roque paid tribute to the celebration of Quezon Day and encouraged Filipinos to be resilient in this pandemic.“Ngayon, Agosto 19, ay kaarawan ni Presidente Manuel L. Quezon. Happy Quezon Day sa inyong lahat, Roque said.

“Napapanahon na alalahanin ang sinabi ni Pangulo Quezon lalo na na tayo ay nasa gitna ng pandemiya. Wika po ni Presidente Quezon and I quote, ‘I want our people to be like a molave tree, strong and resilient, standing on the hillsides, unafraid of the rising tide, lighting and the storm, confident of its strengths’,Roque added.

Moreover, Suarez shared the legacies and contributions of the late President in the country. “President Manuel Luis Quezon is one of the greatest leaders in the country,” Suarez stated.“Noong panahong binigyan ng panukala ng kalayaan ang ating bansa noong 1933, ang dating Pangulong Quezon ang siya mismong gumawa ng paraan upang maisagawa ang Hare Hawes Cutting Act Law, Tydings Mcduffie Act at ibang batas na naging ugat sa kongreso ng Amerika upang magkaroon tayo ng sarili nating kalayaan.” Suarez added.

Suarez also gave praise on the province’s low record of COVID infectious and mortality rate.“Bigyan po natin ng papuri ang lahat ng taga Quezon sapagkat sa pandemya pong ito ang ating lalawigan ay may pinakababang infection at mortalies, Suarez claimed. At the end of the program, all the guests who attended the said program offered flowers at the monument of the former President Quezon.
