Cheetahs, nanaig sa dikdikang laban kontra Tigers sa Women’s Basketball, 29-25

Sinorpresa ng College of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC) Cheetahs ang College of Engineering (CEng) Tigers sa kanilang do-or-die match sa kampeonato ng Women’s basketball na ginanap sa University Gymnasium bilang parte ng Intramural Games 2023, Oktubre 29.

Ito ay matapos maungusan ng CEng Tigers ang CCJC Cheetahs sa unang laro ng finals para burahin ang twice-to-beat advantage ng Cheetahs, 30-27.

“Pinaka-highlight siguro itong last game. Ang ganda ng game nila at magaling din talaga ‘yung kalaban nilang engineering [students],” ani CCJC Coach Fergelyn Canonigo.

Unang quarter pa lamang ay nagpakitang-gilas na ang Cheetahs para umabante nang pitong puntos, 19-12.

Bagama’t pinakipot ng Tigers ang iskor gap nang isang puntos sa huling 20 segundo ng laro, 25-26, nangibabaw pa rin ang Cheetahs sa pagtunog ng buzzer.

“Lagi lang naming sinasabi sa [mga players namin] na mag-enjoy sa laro … siguro ang edge namin sa [ibang departments] ay sporty talaga ‘yung mga estudyante namin,” dagdag ni coach Canonigo.

Hinirang naman na most valuable player (MVP) si Rein Parado dahil sa kaniyang maliliksi at maaangas na plays.

“Lagi naman po kaming champion [pero] nagpapractice din po kami para sa intrams na ito at ginagawa namin ‘yung best namin kahit manalo o matalo … nagpapasalamat po ako sa mga faculty, teachers, DSC, sa coach namin at sa mga kakampi ko,” ani Parado.

Matatandaang inuwi rin ng Cheetahs, dating Raptors, ang kampeonato sa naturang paligsahan noong nakaraang Intramural Games.
