To promote health and fitness through sports activities, the College of Education’s (CEd) Physical Education Department kicked off its first-ever PATHFIT Day for more than 3,400 Envergans at the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation grounds, Nov. 8.

Activities including a fun run, swimming competitions, and an aerobics contest were held during the event, giving students a chance to showcase the skills they have learned in their PATHFIT courses.

According to Dr. Divinia J. Glifonea, CEd Dean, the PATHFIT Day exemplified the principles of outcome-based education which was focused on equipping students with essential skills and knowledge for their future careers.

Organized in collaboration with the MSEUF Banyuhay Dance Troupe and the Culture, Arts, and Physical Education (SCAPE), the PATHFIT Day highlighted skills included in the physical education curriculum for first- and second-year students.

“It was fulfilling to see participants enjoy the activities. The event ran smoothly, and it was rewarding to witness the excitement and enthusiasm from students, even with this being the first PATHFIT Day at the University,” SCAPE President Jorenz Oxales expressed pride in the success of the event.

Meanwhile, participants shared their thoughts on the event, expressing how the event brought out a sense of accomplishment despite being tired.

“I felt happily exhausted. It was my first time joining a swimming competition, and although I was tired afterwards, I felt a sense of accomplishment,” Marione Desaluna, a participant in the swimming competition shared.

The event ended with an awarding ceremony that included a cash prize for the top three winners for each event.
