CED ends championship drought, claims 2023 Debate Competition tilt

Rising from their first-round defeat, the College of Education team conquered the odds to reign as champs ending their college’s championship drought in the 2023 Debate Competition held at the AEC Little Theater, on Feb. 10.

After being bested by the CCJC representatives in a close fight during their first-round encounter, the CEd team proved their might winning the competition in three consecutive rounds.

The winning team lost its first round to CCJC but eventually overcame CEng, CCJC, and CAS in the second, third, and final rounds, respectively.

In the first round, CIHTM and CAS battled over whether political dynasties are disadvantageous while CCJC and CEd debated on divorce.

The second round featured CEng and CEd discussing federalism while the third round showed CEd and CCJC face each other again on the topic of removing the Value Added Tax on essential goods.

During the final round, CAS and CEd talked about the issue of whether civil unions of the same sex should be legalized in the country with CEd bagging the championship.

Meanwhile, the CAS Debate Team placed second and CCJC Team won third in the debate competition.

Moreover, Lyca Penarejo from CCJC was hailed as the Best Debater while Arriane Francheska Maaño of CED was named as the Best Speaker.
