Students and educators of the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies (CCMS) participated in a three-day Apple development training at the IT Center for Continuing Education (ITCCE) Laboratory from Feb. 28 to March 1.

CCMS partnered with Basecamp by Power Mac Center to host the training after the college recently acquired 41 units of Apple M3 iMac computers worth PHP 3.7 million.

The training covered the basics of Swift, Apple’s programming language for iOS and macOS app development. The participants also learned to use Xcode, Apple’s integrated development environment, and create simple applications using SwiftUI, Apple’s user interface framework.

Jean Galsim and Janel Robillos, Apple Certified Trainers from Basecamp, facilitated the training session and guided the participants through various exercises and interactive coding sessions.

According to Assoc. Prof. Rodrigo Belleza Jr., Dean of CCMS, the department hopes to continue its partnership with Basecamp and offer more Apple development training sessions in the future, as well as explore other areas of collaboration and innovation.

The training took place after the CCMS Cyber Fest, which showcased the talents of the CCMS students through various events and competitions in Team Building, Multimedia Design, Programming, Photography, Setup Wars, Wiring, and Tekken.

Dean Belleza added that the activities and training were part of the college’s initiative to enhance the quality of education and prepare the students for the industry demands.
