Bernadette Sembrano, Kara David honored as Banyuhay Awards go national

MSEUF Lucena — Journalists and popular media personalities were among the national awardees at the 2nd Banyuhay Awards held at the AEC Little Theater, April 25, as the event marked its first year with a nationwide scope.

TV Patrol was named Best News and Public Affairs Program of the Year, with veteran anchor Bernadette Sembrano receiving the award on behalf of the news program. Kara David was recognized as TV Personality of the Year for News and Public Affairs for her work in journalism and public service.

The CAS Students’ Choice Awards also recognized figures in film and entertainment. ‘Balota’ won Film of the Year for its take on election-related issues, while Marian Rivera was awarded Film Actor of the Year. Vice Ganda was named TV Personality of the Year for Entertainment, and ‘It’s Showtime’ received Best Entertainment Program of the Year.

In the music category, OPM band Cup of Joe was awarded OPM Artist of the Year.

In the Local Media Category, Radyo Agila won Best Local Radio Station for News, while Spirit FM Lucena was recognized as Best Local Radio Station for Entertainment.

While lesbian and gay couple from Quezon Province Cha & Denz were also honored as Best Local Digital Content Creator of the Year.

The show also highlighted individuals and groups with contributions to social change. Ma. Athisa Manalo received the Banyuhay Hiyas Award for Social Impact, while Dr. Marco Antonio Rodas was given the Banyuhay Likha Award for his work in arts and education.

Meanwhile, the Banyuhay Pamana Award was given to CAS Legacy Icons Christopher Joseph Takeda, Karen Anne Quing, Karl Perry Laylo, Natividad Natividad-Yason, and Arby Lagman for their lasting contributions to the college’s community and culture.

The event closed with the launch of ‘Iba ang Pinoy,’ the official theme song of the 2025 Banyuhay Awards.
