Gabriel Biler (computer science student), Mae De Mesa (information systems student), Josiah Samuel Espana (accountancy student), and Patrick Ivan Lustado (entertainment & multimedia computing student) of TechNomads made it to the Top 25 Teams of the 2022 Shopee Ultimate Case Challenge, The Shopee Careers announced on its official Facebook page, Oct. 17.
Almost 100 teams attended the information session and joined the said competition. The team’s solution of changing the current operational model of Shopee to the challenge of “How can we further reach those who will benefit from the digitization of selling in the areas of Visayas and Mindanao?” made them one of the Top 25 teams.
The team was given a chance to submit a video presentation of their winning slide deck to know if they were qualified for the semi-finals but the Shopee Careers already announced the Top 10 teams on Oct. 27 and TechNomads did not make it.
Mr. John Rover Sinag, faculty from the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies served as their mentor during the competition.
“We did not make it to the Top 10 and we lose our chance of winning the grand prize but I’m still very proud of my mentees because they were able to be part of the Top 25 which is still a big deal because there are so many participants. This is a learning experience for us and we will make sure to do better next time,” Mr. Sinag shared with The Luzonian.
