College indicates the end of beginning to some. A farewell to a long-awaited expedition of hard work, pain, joy, and tears from kindergarten, elementary to high school then senior high school leaping to college.
With this voyage, we met an adequate amount of people that truly remarks our school days from becoming tedious. So, to some considering college as their end of beginning, here are the kinds of students you will meet during your stay.
Academic Achiever
Academic achievers or honor students oftentimes walk on eggshells to balance every baggage in their life while still managing to remain at the top of the class. They are always seen raising their hands during recitations, catching the stares of their classmates who could only sigh relief since they won’t get called during recitations. The voices of these students which often reverberate from the four corners of their classroom are already memorized by their classmates by now. These students are the most hardworking in terms of intellectual capability that will get them in life.
Student-Leader
These are students whose names are consistently making headlines along with their actions; they are effectively making history. Don’t look at their notepads and schedules, because we know it’s pretty much chaotic there. Also, their weekly workload is filled with event after event activities that need some sorting just to not get behind with their academics. These students are the most active and helpful kind in every college life. But choose your student-leader wisely!
Org is Life! Student
This kind of student will always be seen doing organizational activities here and there. They are consistently showing faces on their designated orgs, but this is because there, they may have found a home inside the studious compound. They are quite the busybody with their active participation similar to student-leaders, so do not belittle their workload as well. The amount of dedication that these students show dictate their unrelenting personalities that will help them succeed in the real working world. These students are the most zealous you will ever meet in your college stay.
Regular Student
These students are your typical and average kind of students who basically make up the majority of the college population. They may also fit in one of the above mentioned type of students, but they also like to keep everything steady and at par. They are typically those who are keeping a low profile and may be invisible to some but are enjoying the quiet and non-chaotic life in college. These students may be average but they are doing enough without being dictated by the actions of others.
Survival Student
College is not a competition rather, it’s a survival. If you passed all the subjects, then you are still in the game. But once you failed, it’s either you are out or you will need to repeat the whole process. You can’t talk your way out with extracurricular activities to please your professors. Therefore, college is noted as the pre-survival-of-the-fittest. These students may be procrastinators, barely getting by, have 2.0 GPA, or even with complicated time management issues, but don’t belittle them. They may have personal battles while pursuing college, but the fact that they are still in the game means they are slowly winning the fight.
Kopiko Barako Student
These are the night owl or nocturnal students who are either barely getting any sleep or none at all. Frequently, their companion consists of the limelight from the moon and the coffee at their side—but for most, it’s the coffee. They have messed up their body clock and still need to remain active during daytime for lectures. Nocturnal students are major procrastinators too since they believe that they can get the job done if it’s the night before the deadline. They heavily rely on the momentum and the adrenaline rush. Consequently, the daydreaming of what they would’ve been in 10 years drives them to work hard at night knowing that if they achieved it, they can finally taste snapping themselves from this unhealthy cycle.
DASURV! Student
You would often hear them saying, “Milk tea after recitation, DASURV! Samgyup after the exams, DASURV! Vacay after thesis, DASURV!”Students should not limit rewarding themselves after the hell week, and this has been their national anthem regardless of being an active an average student. College should not be a hundred percent academics only, it must be balanced with enjoying small or extravagant parties to fully avail the best college experience. These students don’t signify the life-of-the-party but they sure know how to cope despite the tough college journey.
Kikay Student
These students sacrificed a large space for their pouch inside a teeny handbag since they believed that college-is-life-but-skin-care-is-lifer. Appearing fresh and animated for their next class despite attending a PE class prior is another kind of finesse in their dictionary. However, they highlighted the importance of skin care as self-care that must be maintained. Personal care is the best kind of love language since it means that you treasure yourself highly. These students may be the ‘kikay’ of their class, but they are ‘kikay’ for a reason.
Gym Bro Student
The pandemic heightened the amount of people who go to the gym. Along with the kikays, self-care is at their topmost priority. They dedicated sufficient hours after school or weekends towards exercising and gym to fully achieve their dream bod. These students take physical attributes seriously and it speaks for their persevering personality.
Student Fans
Fandoms are their key coping mechanism amidst the hectic acads piling at their doorstep, may it be KPOP, Bini, SB19, anime, and such that fill their hearts with joy. They found home outside school on the arms of their bias and the talents of their idols pushed these students to persevere. Their simple hobbies often become their escape from the chaos of their studies.
John Cena Student
They are absent from the first day to last day, and suddenly, their name just vanished into thin air.
